Don’t procrastinate— there’s no time to lose.

Proverbs 6:4 MSG The Message

The Message is a helpful version of the Bible. I use it a lot as a companion to my study Bible. I don’t hide the fact that some verses of the Bible go right over my head. This verse from MSG is very direct but worded different than most other versions. Almost all other version of the Bible for this verse are similiar to the KJV…

Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids.

You can decide for yourself if God is referring to life itself or if God is asking us not to procrastinate our relationship with him. Personally I think the latter because, at least for me, when I focus more on the Lord it helps my day to day living and when I focus on me and my life, not so much.

Have you run to God? How has God changed you? Today is your time to share what God has done for you. How has God been your strong tower?

If you are not familiar with cardboard testimonies, watch the video below. People show what they were and then flip their cardboard to show what they become. We share everything that happens to us that is good but when is the last time you shared your testimony, or even part of it? Why do we share the little things that happen to us with anyone that will listen but we rarely share the greatest gift any of us could receive?

Today, share your “cardboard testimony”. Let someone who needs a strong tower know what the Lord has done for you.

Consider well the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright.

Proverbs 4:26 AMP

The decisions and actions we have made over the years have been built upon decisions and actions we made each second, minute, day, week, and month of the prior years. What we do today, good or bad, will snowball into tomorrow. If we decide today to stop doing something we don’t like that we do everyday and start doing something we wish we did everyday, a new snowball is started. Tomorrow will take additional focus to continue the things we want to stop and start but as each day passes the focus it takes to maintain the changes will fade and become part of who we are.

Most of the things I do on daily biases that I wish I didn’t do started in the same way. The things I want to change about myself the most are the things that I have been doing the longest.

Our character and life is built by each thought, feeling, and action we have. God’s Little Devotional describes it like this…

Have you ever watched an icicle form’ Did you notice how the
dripping water froze, one drop at a time, until the icicle was a foot
long or more? If the water was clean, the icicle remained clear and
sparkled brightly in the sun; but if the water was slightly muddy, the
icicle looked cloudy, its beauty spoiled. Our character is formed in
like manner. Each thought or feeling adds its influence. Each
decision we make – both great and small – contributes its part.
Everything we take into our minds and souls – impressions, experiences,
images, or words – helps create our character. At all times, we must be
aware of the “droplets” we allow to drip into our lives. Acts that
develop habits of hate, falsehood, and evil intent mar and eventually
destroy us–but habits born of love, truth, and goodness silently mold
and fashion us into the image of God. [<a href="a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1562920707?ie=UTF8&tag=adailyproverb-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1562920707">God's Little Devotional
Bible]

What would you like to stop or start? That cloud that hangs over your head everyday would be a good choice for starters. That thing that you know God wants you to change, and change now. It’s the one thing you want to change about yourself but you don’t think you can or have been unable to. But with following this Proverb and asking God to help you everyday, you will!

If you don’t confess your sins, you will be a failure. But God will be merciful if you confess your sins and give them up.

We all sin but do we admit all of our sins. You can’t confess what you don’t admit. You won’t find mercy and forgiveness if you don’t confess.

Living with sin, especially repeated sin, will develop into burdens you don’t have to carry. Jesus Christ died for our sins but unless you confess your sins and ask for the Lord to help you overcome them, you and not Jesus will carry your sins. When something is heavy we automatically look for someone to help carry it. Christ goes beyond helping to carry your heavy burdens, Jesus will take all of the weight off you and carry it himself.

If you have children, think of how you feel when your child comes to you and says I need your help. If you don’t have children then think of when your sister, brother, or a close friend needed your help. Think of how good it feels to help someone you truly love overcome something they can’t do on their own. No matter how big or small we feel deep love and affection for those we can help rise above their problems.

The Lord wants you to ask for help. He wants us to give him all of our sins. He wants us to rely on him. Doing so will make God happy and you will find mercy. We can’t hide our sins but our mercy will be hidden until we confess our sins.
