We will be back Oct 1st
In the last few days we have made some short and long term decisions on the future of aDailyProverb.com. As we have already found out in the four short months since we have been online, those decisions can and probably will change. Keep in mind this site was started as a temp site I created to test things out before we put them on the church site I was working on.
My wife and I learned quickly God had different plans than we did. I will post the incredible road we have been on that has brought us to this point. I have had a lot of, what I thought were great ideas and worked hard to make those ideas successful. But no matter how hard I worked, the results never materialized to the vision I planned. I now have a better understanding of the following Psalm…
A Song of Ascents Of Solomon. Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1
The emails and conversations we have had over the last few days with some of you have been very humbling. The help, ideas, suggestions, complaints, and encouragement we receive are blessings beyond what I can put into words.
What happened?
After the cardboard testimony weekend aDailyProverb.com hit 90% of our allowable bandwidth on the server. I have learned a lot over the past few days about analytics and why we should have been paying more attention to them. It would have also helped the email server problem we had a couple months ago before Google took over. Here are some of the analytics from Alexa, Clicky, and Google
- aDailyProverb has 3 month trending traffic up 2400%.
- Average time spent on the site is up 740% to 7 minutes and 33 seconds.
- Keywords “daily proverb by email” rank #1 in Yahoo and Google.
- Daily emails sent for aDailyProverb.com by Google are up 1400% from last month.
- Bandwidth has increased by 8000mb from the month of August.
We honestly were just not ready for numbers like this. We thought facebook, twitter, RSS, and email would lower the traffic to the site but actually this is where we are seeing the largest growth in traffic to the site. People are hungry for God’s word.
Our hosting company has already made server adjustments to avoid problems like this happening again. We have decided to not launch the new site until Jan 1st 2010. We are going to spend the rest of this year dedicated to daily post on aDailyProverb.com, twitter, facebook, and the daily Proverbs email.
We have reached agreements with three more Bible versions so we will have the entire Proverbs Book available online in multiple versions shortly.
Thank you for your patience, prayers, and support!

Great, i have been following this site since last week. You always post such inspiring words. I’ll make sure I include you and your wife in my prayers.
I have been on here for a month and now my daughter follows you on facebook. We will be waiting for october and keep you guys in our prayers. God Bless
Thank you for the update on your families struggles getting everything started. I was on your email list before your family changed the process. After the changes from I am guessing emailing the daily proverbs yourself to letting another company do it, I saw big changes.
I get my daily proverbs email shortly after noon like clock work
every day since then. I know more than a handful of people in the office also signed up. I will pray the changes you are making now will be just as successful.
I’m not sure if I should ask my question here or send an email. I decided to try here first because other people may have the same question. Since you are starting back on the first you will miss proverbs 31. For a month with thirty days is the verse skipped done on the 30th or the first day of the next month? Do you understand what I am asking?
May God bless your family ministry.
You have our support. We bookmarked the site and read it every night. Neither one of us knew about the email option. I see it now but I would suggest making it stand out more.
Peace,
JJ
Thank you for your comments. We will see over the next few days if the upgrades take care of the problems.
Heather,
Thank you for the prayers and kind words.

Thanks for the prayers and I think it is great your family shares and discusses God’s word. How cool your daughter follows your lead. email me, chris@adailyproverb.com and let me know her facebok name so I can thank her as well.
Kristi,
asking a question on the site it fine. The advantage is everyone can see the question, like you said. The disadvantage is the answer might take a little longer. I am working on being able to answer post when I am mobile to lower the response time. To be honest, we really do not have a system setup for Proverbs 31 on a month with fewer than 31 days. I will talk it over with Brandi but I think we will post day 31 shortly after midnight of the first of the next month. That would mean you should receive day 31 in your email on the 1st of the month.
email brandi@adailyproverb.com if you have further suggestions on Proverbs 31. She is starting to lay the ground work for 31Proverbs.org, a site dedicated to women.
JJ,
Thanks for the suggestion JJ. I moved the email form to the top of the page but I am going to take your advice and try other options. Adding it to our email signature and maybe once a month we may post about the available options to receive aDailyProverb. Thanks again!
